Foster Care Services

Foster Care Services

Our Services

The Children’s Services programs provide intensive support to the most vulnerable children, adolescents and families in New York City and Westchester County. Our service delivery model offers a holistic, comprehensive, and wraparound approach that aims to promote and ensure optimal health and well-being. We work with at-risk children, youth in foster care, and families in crisis to provide clinical, medical, behavioral and mental health supports. All of our supports are tailored to focus on each child’s individual needs and goals.

We are committed to achieving successful futures and positive outcomes in the areas of education, employment, housing and permanency for our youth placed in foster care. Our goal is to ensure that all children and youth are having their needs met.

Our programs have been providing temporary, safe, and nurturing homes with trained and certified foster parents to children                        whose families are unable to care for them. We continue to align our commitments to growth, change and social responsibility to provide quality                                foster care services to children and families in our care. Servicing youths from age 0 to 21, we provide a variety of programs                    that address the needs of the population we serve.

Family Foster Care (FFC)

Our foster care programs serve children from birth through 21 years of age. Family foster care services help children who are in need of temporary safe placement while the families work to address concerns that brought children into care. Youth are placed in loving and caring foster homes while the CMCS foster care team works to provide comprehensive services to support the family to work towards reunification whenever possible. Foster parents are fully certified and receive continuous training to provide youth with the support they need to address the challenges they are facing while they are in foster care. The foster care team works with the foster parent, child and birth parent to help address the initial concerns to support and promote reunification and permanency for youth.

Treatment Family Foster Care (TFFC)

Treatment Family Foster Care provides youth 3 through 21 years of age with an additional level of clinical support and service delivery to address complex needs of youth in foster care. The CMCS TFFC team provides comprehensive treatment assessments and service delivery to help youth successfully live within a foster home while in care. TFFC foster parents receive specialized training to help support the increased needs of youth in order to provide support and stabilize youth behavior.

Preparing Youth for Adulthood (PYA)

PYA programs are designed and implemented to support foster care youth with learning and acquiring independent living skills to support them as they transition to adulthood. The PYA program works with our young people, ages 14 to 20, providing skill-building groups and workshops to foster skill development for youth to develop self-sufficiency and excel in the future.

Strategies for Success (SFS)

The Strategies for Success program provide educational support services to foster parents and youth in foster care. The overall goal of our program is to increase the success that our students experience in school to be measured ultimately by increased high school graduation rates and enrollment in college or vocational schools.

Adoptions Services

CMCS is a foster to adopt program. When children placed in foster care are unable to return to the family of origin CMCS works to identify caregivers who can provide a permanent loving home environment for children in foster care. CMCS supports foster parents adopting youth through assigning adoptions staff and helping the family navigate through the adoption process.
