For children in foster care, the situation is even more strenuous. Not only are they faced with constantly readapting to and re-entering a social environment, their fear of not fitting in or being excluded is very real and another burden these young children should not have to carry.
For them, the first day of school brings not excitement but worry. The lack of proper supplies, like a torn and battered backpack, only adds to the stress suffered by children born into an unstable family environment. School should be a place where the children feel welcomed, cared for, and hopeful.
We are asking you to help the children in our care as they prepare for the new school year. A $25 donation will provide a child a brand new backpack they can proudly wear into school, filled with an assortment of new school supplies.
While we know a backpack won’t remedy the complex issues they face, we know that it will surely brighten their first days of school, and assist in removing a barrier that will bring them one step closer to the road to success.
